Ikea
23rd of March 2002
The moment i woke up i joined Heng Yu, Vinodh, Jack and Siong to Ikea. Well basically it's safe to say that Ikea is to furniture what McDonalds is to fast food. Everything that is sold is the same as what we have back in Malaysia. Had some Aus 1 hotdogs. Then managed to buy my ikea desklamp. Yes it's the exact same one that i have back in Malaysia, only silver (hehe it's right above my head now). Managed to find a bargain table for Jack, it was cheaper but the catch was that we had to take it apart and bring it home ourselves. Well managed to get a cab and Jack went with most of the goods. We arrived back an horu later by bus and train. I dumped my stuff back home and then took Julian's bike to join the guys for dinner.
Oh, i know how to cook fried rice!(thanks Siong and Jack) After dinner i managed to kick Heng Yu's ass in Fifa2002 8-6 (this was after 4 matches of being trashed 4-0)
Well that's all folks till next time. I might have lost alot of you guys because i have been lazy in updating my page. Sorry.

All Night Long
9th of March 2002
Managed to go to city to see the fireworks for the mumba festival. Ooh and the car show, alot of cars. I'll post some of the shot on my site.
10th of March 2002
Stayed in the whole day to do my laundry and then went to the city for clubbing at Metro. Saw quite a number of chicks and there was a fight involving some orientals and some ang mohs. Came back about 5. Then attended classes at 9.
Thought of the day:

Wassup ....
Hey people. I bet one of the reasons why people don't come to my site is because of my inconsistency. Well i would like to thanks all those that have supported my site so far because i reached the 1000 hit few months ago. Now i'm currently studying in Australia doing my 3rd year here. Well i just wanted to let you all know.

Flew a Boeing 777 into the Petronas Towers
Arrived at work at 10.30am, did installation in MAS complex again.(been doing it for a month now) We went back to the simulator building to complete software installation for stan-alone pcs. Came across an isolated LAN for instrumentation for a Boeing 777, played with the training sims for about 2 hours, then when we were done we were given a test drive of MAS's Boeing 777 simulator(it costs RM40 mil) .
I managed to do a stall and flew through day, night and rainy weather, this is what i call ultimate force feedback... the machine is 3 storeys high. It sits on eight hydraulic pistons, hence the pitching and rolls.. and saw the twin towers... managed to get near it, but missed... circled around after 2 minutes.. and wham... shit i thought it was soo real that my heart stopped, now i know how the pilots felt on sept 11. My work started at 10.30 and ended at 2.30. Isn't this one of the best days of my life?

Weird stories from CSA
Cross-over Ghosts
CSA was contracted to do installation of a local area network and also installation of PCs for NEC. The project comprises of 5 buildings which were cabled before the computers were brought in. In each building the LAN cables were placed in certain places throughout the whole building. The cabling was done using straights using dedicated instruments to verify it.
The day after the cabling was done, the PCs came in and it seems as though all the network cables were not working. A further examination showed that the cables were crossed. This happened for 2 out of the 5 buildings. The thing is, if the same person did the installation of the cables, all of the buildings would have been crossed, but it only happened to 2 buildings. The placing of LAN cables were only exclusively known to the technician installing it.
This anomaly no matter it how it has been scrutinized, it still has no solution and still baffles those that were on the project till today.
Haunted servers
There were a few cases of this. Common ones are servers that are unable to boot up. Please take note that the integration department actually does the installation and trouble shoots before the unit leaves CSA. Therefore the unit leaving would be a running unit.
There were 2 accounts from field engineers. One server refused to boot up and despite all efforts to change the RAM and other components, it still refused. So just for the sake of trying the engineer then put a “fat Buddha”( you know the kind found in Chinese homes) and weird enough, it does boot up.
Another variation of that is that the engineer took a piece of yellow paper (those similar color to those from Buddhist temples) and scribbled some nonsense on it. This paper was then stuck on to the server and miraculously enough, it actually boots up.
(This techniques may come in handy when it comes down to the last resort)
Self resetting server
There was a project to install a server in the new securities commissions building in Bukit Kiara. There were 2 engineers on location that were doing the software installation and setting up. The dou spent almost the whole day setting up the server and after it was done it was locked up in the server room which at that time were exclusive only to the engineers. They left about 11 at night.
They returned the day after to suddenly find out that the server was somehow reset to the factory settings with an empty hard disc. Since then one of them have left CSA.
Mistaken hauntings
Case 1
Again, a server was requested by customer and when it arrived it refuses to start. The engineer went to the extreme until he brought replacement network cards, cpu, mother board, array controller, until the whole server was practically replaced with totally new internals. It still refused to boot. The server unit was brought back to the office and the original components were inserted back into the chassis and it could boot.
The engineer then brought the unit back to the customer place, and the engineer was stumped again. He just changed to another power outlet and it could work.
Apparently, due to the bad wiring the server would not get a stable supply of power, hence it refused to boot.
Case 2
A server was installed into a server room of a customer. After setting up, it would always hang at a certain time of the day. It usually came about 10 am. Other engineers were brought in to trouble shoot as well as analyze the log files. No matter what, it still failed about the same time, but this time an engineer was there to witness it. He was so frustrated that he just went to the pantry to refill some water. And it so happens that the pantry was situated next to the server room, he also noticed a tea lady making coffee and tea for the staff.
A close inspection of the premise showed that the server room was supplied form the same source as the pantry and the coffee making machine somehow caused the power to be unstable when used, this was deduced as the tea lady always came in around the same time. The problem was solved by using another power source for the coffee machine.

A very productive day?
Saturday was interesting, had an extra long Karate session form 8 till 11.30 then picked up Joanna and Ee Lynn. They hung at my place for a while till Steph could finish her dance class, then we were off to pick her up and Bukit Jalil. Well Lynn paid for me so i didn't have to worry about entering. The pool was fantastic, the water was soo clean, and there weren't many people and for once i'm actually swimming in a pool deeper than my height. Oh and luckily i didn't become a hero and dive in. The water was soo cold. We were done by 5.30. Then I sent all of them home.
Today, the first centralised training for this year at Bukit Bintang Boys School. It was different, alot of black belts came. This the first time i have seen a demonstration of all the ippon kumites, the sad part was that i didn't manage to bring a camcorder. I managed to document half of the movements but the remainder would have to wait till i see a senior.

New Year is here
Started with a bang, i went with Jen Min, Kar Chuan, David, Joanne, Shawn and Thiru. We actually caught the new year boat ride. It was fantastic, the display was just over head, unfortunately we were soo close till some of the sparks could actually reach the boat seats. Well otherwise this is the best New Year yet, till we decided to go to KL.
We got stuck in the massive post-new year jam and it took us about an hour to get to Orange. Well because of the delay, and the fact that i was not in the mood to enter, i was just content to stare at a Maseratti and a GT-R (R34) parked outside the place. Well i still think it was great, in GT2 i can't even count the hours that i spent on that car, and to see it in real life make it so.... surreal. Well the dinner earlier was fantastic, we went to Sam Yue in New Town. Had quite a good time there and we managed to finish half of the remaining bottle of hard liqour.
Well second working day of the new year, still nothing to do, so i got the ball pictures up, please visit.
Looking forward to my 2nd dan exam on the 26th at BB school at 8.30 if you guys wanna come please do.

Just another day
Well after my very differentday at work. I had to come back to something else. My mom was mugged just infront of my own house.I wonder whether i should go around stalking indians with pylon riders. Another reason for me to leave this country. Well i think i might have to accompany my mom to make her new ic. Then I got screwed by my dad about not informing him about not eating dinner.
Then i went to another depressing training filled with so many flaws that i was dissapointed with the performance of Adrian. I guess this is what happens if you don't go to learn how to teach. The lack of emphasis on the movements and stances would further dilute our standards. On thing i remember is that if teaching ewith a language barrier, the best way to illustrate would be by demonstrating. The higher skill levels should see the students trying to perfect their movements with more power and stance improvement.
Then after training, i saw a gurl smile to me on the way out, it was raining lightly so i tried to offer her a ride home. I have heard alot of failed attempts. Well anyway this gurl was from China and actually hoped, her name is Yishuang. Seeing that last time i was used to the 2-legged transprtation, i don't mind helping out even if it's a bit out of the way. Well it has left me with a feeling of selflessness (feels damn good) till today.
Thought for the moment:
" If each of us can be selfless more often then the world can be a truly happier place "

New Division
I will try to fill in the mentioned topics later, closer towards the end of my working days here. This is because of the change in work environment might further change my view of working life.
As the title shows, i have been transferred to another division. This is the division that deals more with the more technical aspect of setting up networks and troubleshooting. My first day here has already sent me through the data center and already had me sort-of familiarised with the Cisco system.
Security was tight, it requires a magnetic tag with the proper user rights. Then in the inner room where we were to keep our shoes, a finger print scanner with a numeric pad. Entering would bring you into a glass room. The data farms on the left and the command consoles on the right. Somebody has to let you in from the inside. The command center is another thing altogether. One shows the cameras positioned all over the floor, the others were, logs of people entering and logs of access from the network and performance logs.
I know boriiiiing! But i'm sure not many people would be able to witness thing's like these. Karate tonight followed by a stop over at steph's place.
Thought of the day:

Dinner Galore
Friday attended a dinner at Steph's house, the attendees were me, Joanna, Ee Lynn, Regina, Choon Ling, and the guest of honour Maybelle who is back for the holidays.
Saturday, wanted to do my IC but when i went to the registra in the morn' there were soo many people that there wasn't even enough space to get out of the elevator. I gave up and attended the later mornign training at Kelana Jaya Secondary School. Then helped Melanie to order her computer with her dad then came home for lunch. Went for jap food with Jen and then saw a 4.00pm Lord of the Rings show.(It was damn good)
Sunday(my 20th birthday), karate training again at Bukit Bintang Boys school. Then hung at Jen's place, ate rojak and cendol. Then at 7.30 went for my family dinner. Attendees were my aunt, grandma, dad, mom, cousin(Peng Keong), his girldfriend and Jen Min. Then went to Sri Hartamas, Coffee Bean to have some drinks and cake(don't eat the banana surprise) and then to chili's(mamak).
